Lateral Officers

The Aurora Police Department is now accepting applications for active In-State Colorado POST Certified Police Officers.

This new training recognizes the experience of In-State Lateral Officers and their current Colorado POST certificates and Training. Our Merit Based Test-Out processes allow these candidates the ability to prove proficiency in necessary skills to accelerate their Academy experience and fast track them to FTEP. Many officers in this process will transition to FTEP in as little as 4 weeks.

Starting Pay:

  • $95K for officers with 3 years of prior experience
  • $119K for officers with 4+ years of prior experience

  • Must be twenty-one (21) years old by the projected end date of the Academy
  • No felony or serious misdemeanor convictions
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Be a citizen of the United States of America or a person who is lawfully admitted for permanent residence in accordance with the Immigration and Nationality Act
  • Three (3) years of sworn peace officer experience in good standing within the four (4) year period immediately preceding the application.
